Something Old, Something New - Day One!

Xyron started updating their website about the same time we selected a new Design Team.  With each new DT we have done a fun "something old, something new" project - so we selected our most viewed projects on xyron.com and challenged our DTers to be inspired to create something new using the old projects as a guide.  All this week we will feature these projects AND tutorials on how to complete them on your own!

Viki Tiamat took an old, discarded piece of a...wait for it...WASHING MACHINE - and turned it in to this beautiful centerpiece:

using inspiration from this summer centerpiece project.

Head on over to Viki's blog to find out just how she did it and what inspired her!

Stacy Rodriguez updated this gift card and bag project idea:

and created this beautiful, colorful, multi-layered set that anyone would be thrilled to receive!  On her blog today Stacy shares a step-by-step tutorial on how to create the bag with leftover pieces of patterned paper.

Marjie Kemper went canvas crazy on her blog today! sing this four-canvas project as inspiration:

she created a lovely canvas-on-canvas project and shows you some great techniques for making your own.

Thanks for stopping by - stay tuned all week for more fun project make-overs!

Make a Change Monday - Something Old, Something New

Welcome to "Something Old, Something New" week! A few weeks ago we cleaned out the craft room at the Xyron offices - and rather than throwing away old projects we decided to challenge the newest members of the Xyron Design Team!

We included one of our "old" projects in each of their welcome boxes, and asked them to create a new project using the old project either as inspiration or actually refurbishing the original project in to something new. Every day this week we'll share before and after photos, and hope you'll use them as inspiration for some of your own projects! First up Tina McDonald and Van Nguyen!

Tina McDonald

Tina was given a metal tin, used to make a word game.  The original project used Laminate with adhesive and Laminate with Magnet from the Xyron Creative Station line.

She turned it into a beautiful keepsake box using the 9" Creative Station, 1.5" Create-a-sticker, Spellbinders and Maya Road embellishments.

Van Nguyen

Van was given an altered frame/mirror created with paper and embellishments run through the 9" Creative Station and the 1.5" create-a-sticker.

Using the 1.5" & 2.5" create-a-sticker, the Mega Runner, Momenta papers and Colorbök cardstock; Van turned this mirror back into a cute picture frame. This was the first time she has decorated a frame and we think the results are amazing!

Tell us what you think in the comments below!  Come back tomorrow for more!

We love Gini Cagle's interpretation of this Halloween treat bag:

She completely revamped it for a fun springtime idea - a seed packet! On her blog today she gives you the measurements to create the packet yourself.

We can't wait for summer - and neither can Liz Qualman!  Inspired by this summer calendar wall hanging:

Liz created a fun and colorful summertime banner that would brighten up any room!  Today on her blog she shares some tips on creating your own.

Angella Peardon's old to new project just made us giddy!  Her take on these paper swirl animals:

is this whimsical, precious three-dimensional cat that anyone would love to receive! On her blog today Angella not only shows us how to make this, she provides a FREE template! Thanks Angella!

If you've been tuning in all week you've already had one chance at winning a Xyron 2.5" create-a-sticker - and today we're giving you two more!  Leave a comment here and two lucky winners will receive one a 2.5" create-a-sticker of their very own.  Deadline to enter is midnight on Sunday - names will be announced on the Xyron Facebook page Monday morning.

Something Old, Something New - Day Four!

Day Four of our Something Old, Something New Design Team challenge is about hats and holidays and home decor - we hope these projects inspire you as much as they've inspired us!

Xyron makes creating your own home decor a ton of fun - and Van Nguyen shows us just that!  She took this embellished lampshade idea:

and created a darling lampshade for her son's nursery using just a few supplies - and on her blog she shows you how to make your own!

Angela Ploegman gives you three makeovers in one!  She took this house luminary (one of her projects previously posted on Xyron.com):

and actually "re-skinned" it to turn it in to a Christmas luminary!  On her blog today she shares instructions as well as two other house luminaries with us.

Clearly our designers were in a holiday mood this week - Sharon Callis was inspired by this princess hat:

to create this fabulous witch's hat centerpiece!  On her blog she gives you step by step instructions for creating your own - I know you are going to save this idea for Halloween!

We can't talk about the holidays without New Year's Eve - and Denise Hahn took this NYE project idea:

and created a fun, sparkly tiara that you might not want to wait until December 31st to wear!  Head on over to her blog for a great tutorial!

Don't forget to check out yesterday's blog post for a chance to win a Xyron 2.5" create-a-sticker...and stay tuned tomorrow for even more chances! Happy Thursday everybody!

We hope you have been enjoying our week's worth of "something old, something new" projects from the Xyron Design Team - today in addition to some fabulous projects we've got a little giveaway to hep you get inspired!

Summer is coming and Jessica Barnett helps us get ready with a fun kids' craft idea. Jessica took this spider flowerpot project:

and created these darling butterflies using the same cool flowerpot idea! On her blog today Jessica shares a tutorial on how to create these (and how to simplify them for smaller children).

You know we love calendars - and Ann Corbiere-Scott does too!  She took this magnetic calendar idea:

and took it to a new cool upcycled level using smashed bottle caps for the dates in her own calendar! On her blog today she gives us a tutorial on how create this project yourself.

Jen Goode took a cool and different approach to the challenge - she loved these Halloween goodie bags as they were:

so she decided to add another cute character to the collection with these darling mummy bags! Jen treats us all on her blog with a FREE printable so you can make these little cuties yourself.

Linda Neff took this Christmas ornament idea:

and created a fun star ornament that would be perfect for 4th of July celebrations.  Yay summer!  On her blog today Linda shows you how to create your own using scraps of cardboard and shares a lovely story on how she was inspired by the events in Boston.

We hope many of you caught Beth Kingston on HSN yesterday with our 2.5" create-a-sticker deal.  In case you didn't, we're going to give away one of our own!

Leave a comment here on the blog and one lucky winner will receive a machine of their very own.  Deadline to enter is midnight Sunday - the winner will be announced on the Xyron Facebook Page on Monday morning.  Good luck!

We are always so inspired by our Design Team members - and their "something old, something new" creations based on our most viewed projects on xyron.com are making us happy!  Check out what Christina Heeren, Shannon Morgan and Courtney Lee have been inspired to create...

Chalkboard paint can be seen on everything from furniture to walls to home decor - so Christina Heeren took this Easter Flower Pot project idea:

and updated it with chalkboard paint and cheery paper flowers!

On her blog today she shows you how to create these flower pots - what a great gift for Mother's Day or as a "thinking of you" gift for someone you love!

On Shannon's blog today you can find out how this necklace:

Inspired her to create this lovely "use your stash" canvas - and she shares all of her how-to techniques with you!

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Courtney Lee's blog today - using this paper Christmas tree as inspiration:

Courtney upcycled some old wine corks in to this fun whimsical tree, and on her blog she shows you how to make your own!

Happy Wednesday!

We are so excited to bring you the 3rd installment of our Old to New Series! Today, Linda Abadie and Sharon Callis share some adorable projects with you.

Sharon shows her creativity off by converting this plastic napkin holder into a story book holder using the Bazzill Dino-Mite collection! Clever!!

Twelve Days of Gift Giving - Xyron, Creative Imaginations and Faber Castell!

The holidays are fast approaching - and we want to inspire you with easy, creative, inexpensive handmade gift ideas! For the next two weeks the Xyron, Creative Imaginations and Design Memory Craft (Faber-Castell) Design Teams will share gift and card projects, instructions to complete them on your own, and some fabulous prizes along the way. We hope you'll join us!

Xyron DT member Angela Ploegman loves the idea of creating something new from something old - and she created the DARLING winter project (above) using an old frame she had laying around the house. Can you just see this on your mantle? She didn't stop there - she also took an old gift box and turned it in to the perfect treat box (below) for the holiday season. I know we all have some old boxes taking up space in our closets...think of the creations you could make! On Angela's blog today she walks you through the steps to complete these projects at home, and also shares a bookmark she created using leftover scraps. Love it!

We'd love to hear about the handmade projects you are creating this holiday season...and hope you will stay tuned to see what our design teams have in store for us over the next two weeks! Head on over to the Faber-Castell blog and the Creative Imaginations blog (they are BOTH having giveaways!!) for even MORE inspiration today! What a way to start the week!
